I really like this board especially in the waves. If you’re a beginner and still finding your style and fluidity on the water, in other words you still suck, this board will help a lot. The reason is its shaper. Jimmy Lewis’s no bullshit attitude towards perfection, detail and years of experience are what make him a legend in Maui and around the world.

He designed and shaped boards for Laird Hamilton (big wave surfer) and Pascal Maka (Sailboard world speed record holder) and now this latest design for Mauricio Abreu (Pro surfer/ Wipika team rider). So do your self a favor and get a decent board like the Mauricio pro, and stop being a dick.

It’s the Devinci Code of kiteboards. They started big and went small 95cm now the magical number of 127cm is the size most commonly used in kiteboards and it’s for a reason. Width, width , width how many times have you heard that. The width is 38cm making it a good solid platform for the beginner but definitely doesn’t lack in upwind ability. It’s a perfect board for the beginner (175lbs or less) but will improve with your ability. It’s solid wood glass construction makes it great for valentines day and provides extra durability, so no scratches when your girl friend chucks you and your gear out because your addiction to the wind has become ridiculous. Don’t worry there’s always room at the Wipika test centre.

Now this board rocks.! A huge favorite with the kite loop crazy Dominican riders who punish this board hard in the chop cannot break it with their hot landings. The conditions here in Cabarete can be extreme. From massive waves and thirty knots to super flat river waters of La Boca. It’s an extreme board and needs to be ridden hard to get best out of  it. On the other hand for the lighter rider 120lbs -140lbs it’s perfect for your first board. It has the 38cm width to give you stability on your first days out. You won’t grow out of it as your ability improves. Buy one for the girlfriend, she’s probably going to be a better rider then you anyway so at least buy her a good board that you can borrow huh?.
